RRB ALP Syllabus 2018 - Know Detailed Railway Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician Exam Pattern
Indian railways are world’s 9th largest network comprising of 115,000 km of track cover. It also has over 1.4 million employees working at more than 7,500 stations. Every year the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts various examinations for various recruitments as per needs.
The 20 Railway Recruitment Boards of India conducts recruitment to Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ non Gazetted posts. RRBs notify recruitment for numerous vacanct posts of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP) and Technicians. So those candidates who want to prepare for the test, here is RRB Assistant Loco Pilot Syllabus and RRB ALP Exam Pattern.

RRB Assistant Loco Pilot Syllabus 2018 and RRB ALP and Technician Syllabus / Exam Pattern

Selection Process comprise of two stage Written Test followed by Aptitude Test & Medical. The questions will be multiple choice objective type. In the 1st stage CBT Exam, there will be a total of 75 questions that are asked in ALP & Technician written test. Those candidates who qualify will be called for 2nd Stage CBT having 175 questions. The score of first stage CBT exam shall be used only for short listing of candidates for second stage exam as per their merit.

Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories : UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%. These Percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PWD candidates in case of shortage of PWD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
a. Mathematics:
Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

b. General Intelligence and Reasoning:
Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

c. General Science: 
The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.
d. General awareness on current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and other subjects of importance.

Question paper of Assistant Loco Pilot Exam will be multilingual and will be available in Hindi, English and Urdu and elected language.

Railways Recruitment Boards ( RRB ) Assistant Loco Pilot ( ALP ) Technician written Exam Syllabus & Pattern for 2nd Stage CBT

2nd Stage CBT Exam Duration: 2 hours 30 Minutes (Part A: 90 minutes, Part B: 1 hour)
No. of Questions: 100

The RRB ALP syllabus for Part A shall be as below
a. Mathematics:
Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work Questions; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry Problems, Elementary Statistics, Calculations involving Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

b. General Intelligence and Reasoning
Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling / ordering, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and decision making, Similarities and differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

c. Basic Science and Engineering
The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Different Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Mass Weight and Density, Units, Measurements, Work Power and Energy Topics, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy, Basic Electricity etc.

d. General Awareness on Current Affairs in Science & Technology, Personalities, Economics, Politics, Sports, Culture and any other subjects of importance.

RRB ALP/Technician Syllabus 2018 for Part B 2nd Stage CBT:
  • No. of Questions: 75
  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Qualifying marks: 35%

This part B is of qualifying nature. Questions in this part are to be asked from trade syllabus prescribed by Director General of Employment & Training (DGET).
